Zero Tone is a collaborative project between producers primarily centered in the Pacific Northwest of North America. Known by no other name and shunning the ego trappings of self identification, Zero Tone's creative genius is focused on the product and not the face behind the product. Taking an austere and conceptual approach to the production aesthetic- Zero Tone's "Echo Chamber", their debut release on From 0-1, displays this methodology through their intricate attention to thematic underplay present within each track. Step into the Echo Chamber... We begin with "The Entrance", an energetic number reverberating the excitement felt when stepping into what seems to be an immense and sprawling room. Electronic flits and fleets bounce like shards of light while giant synth vamps appear from what seems like nowhere, to disappear just as quickly. And the pace picks up. It becomes clear that the Echo Chamber is the extant projection of the mind. As astute self-realization sets in, "Life Form" begins to appear out of thin air. Slowly building from nothing, "Life Form"'s insistent kick drum pounds its shape like a fabrication press into the mold of consciousness. Suddenly, the funky bassline drops and at once the immensity of the alleys of the mind become apparent. They go on forever echoing every aural excitation. "Life Form" sounds its timbres to the depths. "Shadows and Seals" is the result of willful travels to the edge of the known universe, spurred on by a strong sense of self-realization in which the pathway chosen to make the journey leads directly down one's spine. Hollow gongs, and arching synths soar above, while the bass and kick combo thunders underneath. This is the sound of immense personal revelation. The intensity of the experience culminates. "Shadow Form" is the summation of a great personal endevour: life itself. An introspective and wonderous piece, all the experiences of our echo chambered mind become as one. Micro melodies and eerie pads are the remnant reminders of our past, and a snappy kick serves as the timepiece to the rhythm between our shadow and our form. "Shadow Form" soon drifts away, whilst finally giving in to dissolution. As it bleeds down into the abyss, Zero Tone's Echo Chamber finds it's place in a revered state, one hovering somewhere between light and shadow, conscious and unconscious, form and dissolution. Speaking to the far reaches of the universe, Echo Chamber is somewhere far, far away, somewhere deep within the space between
