Memnoks music evokes dark spirits and black energies. His name is Jeremy Brown, a native of Grand Rapids Michigan not too far from Detroit, and his music speaks this reality. Despite the renowned bleakness of this area of the world, Memnok masters the ability to channel his creative energy, yielding a product that is sinister, moody, and punk-drunk tough while retaining a level of stripped-to-the-bone dark funk rarely heard amongst a myriad of techno, and minimal producers today. Memnok begins this release with Chaibot, the funkiest of three tracks. A shuffled bass line, raw synth vamps, and quirky melodic percussive lines get the release off to a bouncy start, perfect to move the funkified weirdoes on the floor. Onto the feature track- Konception. It brings to mind something that might be played at the Antichrists baptism. Truly dark and eerie, Konceptions power lies within its massively groovy bassline and powerful kick drum commanding all the darkest fiends to engorge the orgiastic frenzy ensuing on the dancefloor. This is one to be dropped when the single red light in the corner goes kaput, just in time for the acid to peak. Rounding out the three track package is Sh0-Me. Possibly the most uncomforting of all three tracks, this track is creepy. Sh0-Me is raw, and unnerving. Grit and grime abound and the feature vox line bleeds through suggesting delirium, and far too many drugs in a 15 minute period. Perfect to initiate the nights first fist-pump roll call.
